Temple tour of SriKalahasthi

SriKalahasthi:
This is about my visit to  Sri Kalahasthi with my friend Shri LV Rajarathnam, seeking the divine blessings of Kalahastheeswarar. Located 46 Kms northwest of TADA in chennai - Kolkata route, (total distance approx 125 kilometers) this temple is One of the Pancha bootha Sthalams- for  Vayu (air). The other pancha bootha sthalams are Kancheepuram ( land), Tiruvannamalai (agni), Chidambaram( sky) and Tiruvanaikkoil( Water). The flame behind kalahastheeswara vibrate as if wind is blowing. Kannappa nayanar gave his eyes to lord here and was blessed.
Right from early morning buses are available every 20-30 minutes from chennai. Buses take about 3hrs and 30 minutes to reach Kalahasthi. Free dharshan and paid dharshan are also available. This is a parikara sthalam for Raghu and Kethu. Depending on the amount you are willing to pay, Rs.300-2500, parikara pooja is held at different places in the temple. Pooja method is the same. Devasthanam, provides free food to devotees. They offer full south Indian meal with sambar, rasam and butter milk. At the other end of the Sannathi street , devasthan provided free lockers ( refundable deposit ₹100/-) to pilgrims. Devasthanam Rooms are also made available to devotees for a nominal rent of ₹200-₹800.
